What you can do to help prevent child maltreatment

AS A PARENT…

·            Spend time with your children.  Read and sing to them, play with them,

and plan family events with them. (such as CASA Family Fun Day)

·            Be a role model for respectful behavior and values you believe in.

·            Listen to your children without judging them.

·          Show your children that you love them.

·            Know when and who to go to when you need help- no one says being a

               parent is easy!

AS A COMMUNITY…

·           Reach out and help a parent who is struggling.

·           Remind anyone you think is having problems with parenting that asking

for help is a sign of strength.

·           Lend your time, skills, resources, or money to help groups that prevent

              child maltreatment and family violence.

·           Encourage clubs or other organizations to provide child care or transportation

so parents can participate in activities.

Thank you for working together to keep kids safe and families strong.
