Kids Helping Kids. Maya Beck and her friend Hannah have been giving back to the community for years and they aren't even old enough to drive.
Maya explained that she choose to do a fundraiser for CASA after hearing an upsetting story about child abuse. Maya knew she wanted to do something to help the kids who have been hurt so with the help of her mother she heard about CASA.
Maya and Hannah cut out handprints, attached a clear stone resembling a tear, and posted their slogan: "Every tear that you buy stops a tear from a child's eye" in a local store. Community members who made a donation would receive the handprint cutouts. The handprints were just perfect and the phrase that the girls created brought a tear to CASA Executive Director's eye as the girls explained their project. The girls, along with the community's support raised over $100.
Then Maya's mom took the girls shopping so they could purchase items on the CASA website wish list. Maya and Hannah presented CASA with office supplies and activities for CASA volunteers to do with their children in foster care while making home visits.
"I am inspired by these caring children who not only had the compassion for others, but took the steps to do something about it. I see a bright future for Maya and Hannah and think when they turn 21 they will be great CASA volunteers themselves!"
